General member activity: cocktail workshop
Glasses, ice, fruit, sugar and a massive amount of alcohol. The expectations of the night are exceptionally high. No one’s surprised by the fact that the main ingrediënt of an activity organised by the social activity committee is alcohol. Tuesday the 11th of September the time had finally come to join the party. Filled with excitement the KIC’ers were waiting behind closed doors of Donovan’s. Thirty five people were expected. Quite a bunch, the promise of a fun evening.
It sure was fun! The excited members were warmly welcomed with a drink. After this the group was split in two, to keep the big crowd in order. The workshop consisted of making five different cocktails. With each cocktail four or five people were called behind the bar to craft, mess and explore. The cocktails prepared under the supervision of skilled bartenders were the following: mojito, cosmopolitan, long island, pornstar martini and a basil smash. Almost everyone mastered making these sweet refreshments. Beautiful cocktails appeared on the bar, with varying flavours, colours, garnish and an amount of liquor, that was before the cocktail had fallen on the ground.
After enjoying the cocktails it was time to create a shot with the entire group: the “B-52”. A long line of shot glasses were filled with Kahlua, Baileys and Cointreau, which were lit on fire. With a straw and tact the glasses were drunk till the last drop. After drinking the shots the group got offered a delicious cocktail to close of the evening. The group accepted this offer with open arms, after which the KIC’ers hung around for some much needed socializing.
Altogether it was a very successful night filled with alcohol, banter and fun. Thank you saco and we’ll see you at the next activity!
